A morning talking about Las
Galeras:
Whenever I am back from
Europe, alone or accompanied by a friend, I find every
time the same charm: the wonderful landscapes, with a
beauty without equal; the extraordinary and exuberant
vegetation, which are making of this place a unique site
in the world; the kindness of the local people....Christian

Colors palate of a painter,
a broken clock without time, the sound of the silence...Federica
I would never have believed
that I might fall in love with it, with its uncontaminated
breaches covered of shells and with its unique and
incredible sea, wonderful greenish blue. I want to live
with you, my paradise. Barba Roja

It is a happy village, of
compliments, of jokes, of sharing in the colmado, of doing
sancocho when it is raining, of playing dominoes, of
playing baseball, of going out to swim under the rain, of
serenades, of sweet beans, of concon, of dancing in the
street, of speaking high and laughing hard. El

When I was a child, I liked
to go early in the morning to The Playita and to see how
the sun was waking up little by little the mountain that
seemed asleep with the billing and cooing of the sea,
being sitting in the sand, I was accomplice of a magic
scene... and I am still doing it. El Sonador
I visited Las Galeras for
the first time when I was traveling as photographer, they
were not holidays, but I decided to take a rest, always
with my camera and to go to meet the villagers, walk,
speak, ask until I came to the beach...It was a perfect
scene with the children playing, they were smiling, were
running, were singing, were dancing as if they were
possessed by the sea waves that were pushing them to the
shore. Captivated by their natural freedom, I terminated
by making more photos of them than for my work. El

We arrived late in the night
to Las Galeras and tired, we went to sleep to get up early
and to play role of tourists. Bath suit and camera in
hands , we went out to walk, we saw a bus selling fruits,
the people was looking and buying, we bought passion
fruits, pineapple and papaya. The young man of the bus
offered us a mango, saying that they were very sweet. My
friend was hungry so she decided to taste it. It seemed
that she had never eaten. While she was devouring the
mango, I looked at her and I began laughing without
stopping, she had the whole face and the bath suit full of
mango juice, she licked one's fingers and was saying: this
is very good!..she was looking like a girl. Las
